Dixie Cup 2009... Save The Dates!

SAVE THE DATES...

The dates and courses for the 2009 Dixie Cup have FINALLY been set!!! This has been a tough one to pull together, but we think it will be worth the wait!

Dates:  Friday, November 6 - Sunday, November 8

Friday - Golf at Palmetto Golf Club http://www.palmettogolfclub.net/
Saturday- Golf at Aiken Golf Club http://www.aikengolfclub.com/
Sunday - Golf at Camden Country Club http://camdencountryclub.com/

We are hoping to have a group dinner at Palmetto on Friday evening with a discussion about the club/course history.

Pre and Post Dixie Cup golf will be available at area courses, including Paul Cowley's "The Patriot" in Ninety Six, SC

I haven't played any of those courses, but loved the photos of Palmetto.

I played at Camden last weekend and it was wonderful. Really like the course. And of Palmetto, enough has been said on this forum over the years. It's been way too long since I've been there.

Could be the Best Dixie Cup Yet...but only if I make a hole-in-one somewhere.

hmmm....I'm going to have to give this some serious thought.  I will say that even though I will be living in the south, I would have to represent the north.

For my part, as a lifetime South Carolina resident, October and November is the best time of year for golf. Most years even up through Thanksgiving weekend you'll get cool overnights (and the possibility of frost delays) with dry, breezy daytimes. High temps will probably be in the 50's to maybe low 60's and it'll get down near freezing some nights or stay in the 40's on others.

But the temps are highly variable. It is possible to dip into the 20's in mid-November and it's possible to have an odd day or two over 80F. Mostly the humidity is low and the golf courses are in great shape, just on the verge of going dormant but still healthy.

I didn't realize that the Dixie Cup would be conflicting with GCA.com's "official" visit to the SC Low Country... I guess I should occasionally visit other areas of the site besides the discussion board. Anyway, we didn't choose the dates for this year's Dixie Cup... Palmetto Golf Club did. We're just glad we were finally offered the opportunity to visit.

To All... yes, there will be a North vs South competition. You can play for either side, just let your heart be your guide.
