Norman trumps Fazio
« on: July 15, 2009, 12:51:47 AM »
I was amazed and really enjoyed the Norman course at Red Sky Golf Club near Vail. Yes it is mountain golf and has many of the issues that go with the territory. Yet it was a solid course with very few if any silly blind or almost nonsenseacle shots which dominated or at least were common at the other courses in the area. My hat is off to the people at Red Sky for the quality of golf operations. However the super is lost other than conditions were generally good as you would expect at a resort/real estate course. He does not understand what should be dry and wet etc.

Tiger,
Definitely agree with you that the Norman is the better of the two at Red Sky. Where else did you play?

Sorry to hear the turf issues were more wet than what they should be. Is it possible there has been more rain there or is it simply because of ignorance and the desire to make sure no brown spots appear to upset the guests.

I really enjoyed Norman's layout at RSR too. I see it, along with nearby Lakota Canyon Ranch, as two of thevery best public layouts one can play in all of Coilorado.

Be interested to hear comments on the par-3 16th with its gorgeous backdrop and the closing holes on each side.
