I know most people in the treehouse have been there a few times, but just in case you would like to see some recent photos . . .

http://www.thewalkinggolfer.com/Bandon_Dunes.html

I mentioned previously that it was my "third" favorite course of the three that are open at BDGR, but it is certainly a great course in the grand scheme of things and laid the foundation for the three that are following.

Just in case anyone missed it before it fell off.

Final bump.

Rob - thanks for the post about Bandon, it has been a number of years since I played it so it was nice to go thru the sequence of holes again.

Those are recent pictures, correct, Rob?

You can see a lot of the effects from the on-going gorse removal project.

The back of the fairway on #4 is no longer a solid wall of yellow (when in bloom)

The backdrop to #14 was really bare last time I was there.  Now you can see a lot of grassy plantings....

Michael,

Yes, the photos are from about ten days ago.

They kept the course in a very "distressed" state for the amateur - very very natural.

One of the caddies said that the gorse battle is ongoing because it grows so much in the winter when everything else is dormant.

Terrific color in the turf.   Thanks for the great shows Rob.

Slag,

They have done a great job (along with the weather) - the greens at BD did have some bare spots, something that I did not see at PD or BT, which was interesting. Not sure if that was something the OGA encouraged or the super decided to go with for the Am.

Was there a six weeks ago and I am surprised by how much the grassy plugs in the hillside at 4 and behind 14 have grown-in in such a short period of time.

Interesting is the flag on number 5 and what appears on numbers 6, 17 and 18. That is not the normal red flag for Bandon Dunes. Anyone know the story? The other flags are the appropriate red.

Damon,

Those flags were in place for the Oregon Amateur - they looked pretty cool to be honest.

I love the GBI flagsticks that they bust out at all the Bandon Dunes courses - Plastic will not hold the wind there, even on the short course they are full on metal. Brilliant stuff.
