Mirimichi Golf - a Justin Timberlake Production
« on: June 22, 2009, 10:42:59 PM »
Interested to see how this one turns out.  Anyone had a chance to see the progress first-hand?  They claim they've completely re-built the course, which is a good thing - at least for the front nine.  The bunker in the first small photo certainly looks imposing and different than anything found on the old Big Creek.  The waterfall will certainly have its detractors, but if nothing else the course will be eco-friendly.

Here are a few more photos - definitely doesn't look anything like the course that used to be there.

From another site -

"The par-72 golf course will stretch over 7,400 yards from the tips, but will offer five different tee boxes to appeal to golfers of all abilities. Golfers will be treated to lush fairways, scenic vistas, four waterfalls, six lakes, and two creeks that meander through the holes. Water comes into play on 15 of the fairways. The area's natural landscape is enhanced by returning native plant species to the course and working with the natural elevations.

Formerly known as Big Creek Golf Course, every aspect of the golf course has been renovated. No hole is the same as it was before the renovations -- even the majority of the greens have been enlarged, moved, or re-contoured. The renovations were carried out by the Talent Golf team of Mike MacElhose and Randy Wilson. Talent Golf used the careful placement of tees, natural topography, length, width, wind direction, hazard placement, and contouring to create a unique course design that provides golfers with a true test of their golfing abilities, while enhancing the beauty of their surroundings. More than 80 bunkers were added to the course. "

4 waterfalls!!!

Isn't Big Creek the course with all parallel fairways on the front nine?

Apparently, from a google search:  "The heart of Mirimichi is a luxurious, public golf course for skilled ball-strikers who can spend $59 (weekdays) to $71 (weekends/holidays) for a round."  TImberlake isn't looking for profit at this time.   That's good news for Memphis golfers - I bet it will be packed like Bethpage.

It WAS - yes.  I think that is gone now.  The front nine was back and forth, each hole indestinguishable from the previous offering.  The back nine mixed it up much better.  Not outstanding, but certainly more interesting and much more to offer.
