O/T Another Daly Retirement
« on: July 02, 2009, 12:41:16 PM »
John Daly retired from the Open de France Alstom when he was eight over par after the 16th hole. No mention of the reason for his discontent.

Does he have an exemption on this Tour or is he relying on the largesse and cupidity of Sponsors?

So that begs the legitimate question...has the leopard really changed his spots?  And I don't mean his pants...

In fairness to John, us fat southern boys tend to tucker out around no. 14.

I'm just sayin'.

The reason from JD himself via Twitter@PGA_JohnDaly ---

"Over exerted on Hole #7 which caused me to have a "SPRAINED LIGAMENT RIB" in with the Doctor now....SERIOUS PAIN !"

"POPPING IT back in tomorrow at noon they don't want to do it now because of the swelling!" ...

"Doc says that he can't believe I played 10 more holes!" ...

"Tour Doc says about 3 days"

The European PGA Tour lists him as Exemption Category 15.  The problem is their list of exemption categories on their website only goes to 12.

Sounds sort of like double secret probation to me. ;)

Well, he should be partially exempt for life as a result of winning the British Open. That goes for all American PGA Tour players who have won an event. Now if they are saying he is fully exempt, then I am not sure how that is.

I'm guessing he was an anatomy major at Arkansas.  Probably would've been a physical therapist if he wasn't a whatever he is now.
