Are you ready for the new era of GCA
« on: June 18, 2009, 12:30:54 PM »
Got the following e-mail from We-Ko-Pa yesterday:

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club has entered the world of Social Media with the debut of our new Facebook fan page. We hope you’ll become a registered “fan” and keep up on the latest Club information, course photos and special “fan-only” offers. Fans can also communicate with other fans by posting comments, photos and video, while Club officials can speak directly to We-Ko-Pa’s most loyal customers.

Fans will also be encouraged by We-Ko-Pa to share their stories, photos, golf experiences and opinions on the We-Ko-Pa Facebook wall.

In fact, we want to hear your personal architectural opinion on the par 5, 8th hole on the Cholla course? Architect Scott Miller has posted his thinking during the construction of the Cholla course.   Please click here  and you will be directed to the new We-Ko-Pa page!

Facebook?!?!?  Posting your architectural opinions on specific holes.  Architects posting their design thinking.  Are the days of GolfClubAtlas numbered?

There has been a GCA Youth Movement Facebook group for over a year now.

A good number of us are in that group.

I was wondering the other day how long it would take for that to happen.

For my kids' age group, it's the only way we can find out what they are up to.

Talk about the blind leading the blind!

I'll be starting a site soon called "Twit."  It's like "Twitter," only briefer.  After all, what can't be said about GCA in 40 characters/spaces or fewer?
Coming in 2024
~Elmira Country Club
~Soaring Eagles
~Bonavista
~Indian Hills
~Maybe some more!!

For my kids' age group, it's the only way we can find out what they are up to.

I echo that experience.  My deal with the kids is that I can monitor at any time but I agree not to comment on their pages.  It has provided several "teaching" opportunities even though they have consistently made their mistakes quite innocently.
