Flynn on Selecting the Property

The link above will take you to a nice piece that Flynn wrote in 1927 about selecting land for a golf course.

Interestingly, his philosophy of trees on golf courses comes out in this piece. He was a advocate of trees on golf courses, to be sure. I alos found his thoughts on topography to be very intestesting.

 As you can see he spoke of the "nongolfing" purposes of trees. While he doesn't speak of it here he used trees that existed on the property to create turning points in many cases. This was economical and strategic.


    HE DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT PLANTING TREES TO PUNISH YOU FOR A MISHIT!
