If the greens at BB are as flat as everyone says they are it would be a great venue - plenty of putts holed and therefore plenty of drama.
As for the Belfry, it's not a great course but IMHO does work as a Ryder Cup venue because of holes like 10 and 18. (I may change my opinion if it's the Europeans dumping it in the lake this time round
. Given that most people watch the contest on TV and that it's about theatre and pulling for your team as much as 'golf' you could argue the venue should be one that works on those terms rather than more rarefied values such as architecture. Sawgrass would be fun.
