Hey Tommy!

I just tried calling your cell phone and it didn't work.  Anyway, I think we need to see how drama plays out at the US Open and see how they play the course.  If it holds up to the best players in the world and is a cauldron of excitement then I say YES! to a Ryder Cup at the Black.  If it pans out to be bland then I think they should drive another hour and play the Ryder Cup at NGLA!  NGLA is rumored to maybe host the centennial Walker Cup since it hosted the first one.  But that is still about 20 years away =(.

This would be one tough venue for the Europeans. Heckling would be taken to its zenith (nadir?).

I still think the most exciting Ryder Cup venue I have seen was Kiawah Island. It's just such a dramatic course- so much more fitting for such an event than someplace like the Belfry

If the greens at BB are as flat as everyone says they are it would be a great venue - plenty of putts holed and therefore plenty of drama.
As for the Belfry, it's not a great course but IMHO does work as a Ryder Cup venue because of holes like 10 and 18. (I may change my opinion if it's the Europeans dumping it in the lake this time round  ;). Given that most people watch the contest on TV and that it's about theatre and pulling for your team as much as 'golf' you could argue the venue should be one that works on those terms rather than more rarefied values such as architecture. Sawgrass would be fun.

Evan hit it on the head!

When I think of the Ryder Cup for some reason an image of Kiawah always pops in my head. What a great setting and a killer test. I loved watching holes won with bogies!

If it were up to me Kiawah would be the permanent home of the Ryder Cup in the states.

Wouldn't that be ironic -- having a links-like course host the US matches and a parkland course as the quasi-permanent host in Europe?
