Interesting.  After seeing the green site in the first photo, my thought was, "I don't think that was designed by <designer>."  I checked it out, though, and it was.

The long grass in the background of the third photo looks odd, to me.  Did that used to be a bunker or something else?

I was just a guest there, but my host explained that the mounds were piles of rocks collected during the construction process, which were then covered with dirt. Not sure when the fescue was added.

I quite like Wampanoag; it's been a while since I played it but it looks much as I remember it.  It seems as though it could do with a bit of a touch-up from one of the ace Ross-restorers out there at some point, as it looks like some bunkers have driftend away from the line of play and all.  But the 18th hole is one of the best finishing holes in the area regardless.  I think I would give the edge to nearby Hartford GC in terms of Ross courses in Hartford County, but the CC of Waterbury beats them both, in my opinion.

It really is a nice course, and 18 is definitely a strong finshing hole. I doubled it to turn my 73 into a 75...It was late on a very hot day and the greens were running slower than normal.

I did note a few areas where the greens have been rounded off and could easiily be restored
