Over the Top
« on: June 01, 2009, 11:18:27 PM »
I've been thinking recently about over the top things that go on at both public and private golf courses.  These are things which are usually done to enhance the experience, but from the outside they might just make you laugh.  A few examples I have heard of or seen:  Stamping the clubs logo into ashtray sand, Bagpipers on the course each night, bunker sand around the tee monuments that is raked daily, outrageous fountains shooting 50 feet into the air, renting Swans to put into the ponds each summer.  I think in the current economic climate many of these things are disapearing, which might be a blessing in disguise.  Just curious of other "Over the Top" extras other people have seen.

Being asked which ball I play, and then being given that type and brand at the practice range.
I've seen an architecture, something new, that has been in my mind for years and I am glad to see a man with A.V. Macan's ability to bring it out. - Gene Sarazen
