Good points all around. And while posts like these inevitably lead to comparisons and the desire for some to want to decide one is clearly better, I think the golf world is richer for both.

I belong to a club that requires caddies or carrying and only allows carts for medical reasons. That is, and will almost certainly always be, the exception to what's being done in these United States. As has been discussed here before, there are some places here that are simply too hot to expect any reasonable volume without carts.

There is just ONE fundamental difference between the golfing cultures of the UK and USA, and all other differences can be traced directly from it...


...and that is, that with the heroic exceptions of Merion and Pine Valley, American golf clubs don't serve Kummel.
