Inverness Club - NCAA Championship
« on: May 30, 2009, 05:10:48 PM »
Did anyone else catch the NCAA championship match today between Arkansas and Texas A&M?  The format is now match play and it came down to the last group.  It was all square going into 18, the famous 350ish par 4.  The TAM player went wide right off the tee and then nearly holed his approach to win the championship.  It was pure drama.

I still remember Tway holing his bunker shot to beat Norman.  What a neat finishing hole.

On the broadcast holes 14-18 were shown.  They seem to be really good holes on tv.  A quick search on GCA did not yield many pictures of the course, although there is much banter about the added holes.  For such a classic course it seemed to hold up well against the college players.  I would like to see another major there someday.

Bronson Burgoon, pride of The Woodlands, TX was the player that knocked the sooey outta that woo pig.  :D  The kid he beat, Landry, is from the Golden Triangle area of Southeast TX.  Good day for us Gulf Coast Plains golfers.

 8) Bronson's a good kid..  played with him and a couple of his buddies once at WCC for nine holes when he was becoming an AJGA standout.. yes he beat me, but i beat his buds.. good attitude.. we're all looking forward to seeing him do well and come home to win the SHO!  Won't hold that Aggie experience against him
 :o :o

Inverness has some great history, starting with SP Jermain bringing in Ross to transform the property.. the Stranahans, Byron Nelson being the pro there,  and the famous clock given to them by the pros..  not surprizing to see the course challenge the college players..

Inverness (Toledo, OH) cathedral clock inscription: "God measures men by what they are. Not what they in wealth possess.  That vibrant message chimes afar.
The voice of Inverness"
