I have posted this on another thread but my home course has a fun back to back par 4 and 5 where the two holes are definitely a par 9 but it is probably more likely 4.5 and 4.5. I have made more 4s on the par 5 than on the par 4 in my two years as a member. Love back to back give and take scenarios.

Carnostie 16, Dornoch 2, KB 15.  Most half par 5s are now par fours.

Only b/c I just recently played it, but it strikes me that #15 @ Seminole could be a half par in either direction depending on the wind.  Its short and easily reachable under calm conditions, but the water and forced carries could make it a bear in a stong wind (the more common scenario).

I think of 6 & 7 at Heathland as this type of scenario Tim.  Long 4 (460), #1 HCP, then reachable 5, less than 5 bills from the tips.

Paraparaumu Beachs 18th.  The scene of great theater. 440m Par 5.  With that whole "Par is irrelevant" notion the 18th at PB has produced some great finishes.  Grant Waite 2iron for albatross on the friday of the 92 NZ Open (plaque still conjurs up the memories).  Michael Campbell V Craig Perks 2000 NZ Open playoff - Campbell went birdie in ordinary play, birdiie, eagle in playoff to win it.  Most recently at the NZ Amateur Strokeplay playoff (2008) when James Betts triumphed after playing it twice and dispatching two competitors (internal OB asks a few more questions in a playoff sense than normal play).

I think its an under-rated hole which ticks the boxes in most aspects but length!

As the 17th stroke hole it certainly produces the desired dramatics for the saturday fourball!

Gary, #2 at Dornoch is a par 3, but I made more 5's there than 3's.  #10 was even harder!
