Makena
« on: April 22, 2009, 08:43:57 AM »
If anyone is interested I just found out that Makena South Course, which is currently undergoing renovation and was supposed to reopen this year, will in fact not re-open until Jan 2011. It is expected reopen under a different name and will be either semi-private or private.

Makena North is still operating as usual and is now just called Makena Golf Course.

With that long a closure, sounds like it is being mothballed until the economy improves enough to sell memberships.

Makena South course was interesting. I thought the inland holes were far superior to the two holes that hugged the coast line.

I wonder why they don't keep it public (at least for resort guests only) until they can get enough memebers...

A guy I know just stayed at the Four Seasons nearby, and its occupancy was 45%.

The Grand Wailea has been emailing a bunch of promotional discounts to us lately.

No doubt that Makena's rounds played has been down significantly...the local hotels just aren't doing well.
