Riveria on the West Coast?  Or Perhaps Torrey?

Rivieria is #8
199 played, only Augusta National left to play!

How long would one need to be a member of NGLA, CPC, or Rivera before you even cared what the range looked like?

Depends on what other clubs one has in one's 14 club limit.

 ;D

Seriously though... if CPC was my one and only club, I'd want some practice facility.  Of course odds are they'd accept me down the road at MPCC, so never mind.  Your question is perfect.

Mid Ocean's practice range is deeply weird. It's sort of rhomboid in shape, plus you hit over a caged section of the entrance road. It's also really windy (natch) and the Cayman balls used there seem extra vulnerable to it. I don't know if it's the worst--it's a grass range iirc--but it's an definitely odd place. It's Bermuda, though, so you can't expect much more--land is too dear.

Sand Hills would be a guess and on the west coast, Pasatiempo or Olympic Club.   Olympics is huge but poorly designed and poorly maintained.

C'mon, Tom, are you serious?  I'd give up a lot of things that are a lot more important than a practice facility to belong to CPC!

Carl - good point.  Methinks one could live with just the golf course in all of these great places.  I was just thinking in a perfect world especially if it is one's one and only home club, well... one might want somewhere to practice. But John had it right to begin with, so don't listen to me.

Two of my favorites:

Quaker Ridge
Somerset Hills

I agree with those who ask "Who cares?"  If I belonged to one of these fine clubs, I'd do my practicing on the course in the early or late hours.  What better place to practice the shots I'll need than on the shots I'll need?

Again, they have 36 holes each!  If you want to practice, come early or stay late (or both.)  No need to have a glam prac fac in order to cover up course blemishes.  Both clubs can have me and I promise to never squack about the Prac Fac.

no Medinah Shiv...remember all of his choices are on/near the coasts

CPC is #10, PB #9

Ok, then, well, I guess I have to say this:  Jerry Tarde is either an idiot or he mailed this one in.  Either that, or the only Medinah practice range he's ever seen is the 9th fairway of the #1 course because if he ever saw their day-to-day range, it'd have to be on the list...

Shiv - get with the program, Medinah re-did their whole practice facility.  And you couldn't sniff those townhouses.
