The "Most Colorful" Thread
« on: March 23, 2009, 07:18:47 PM »
Every time of year, your home course has a couple of weeks where all of the vegetation is in full bloom.  When this happens, the course just oozes out color and keeps your eye attracted the whole time.  It could be the native grasses, native flowers, planted flowers, fall trees, gorse bushes, desert bushes, etc., and it lights the golf course up.  I have always been fascinated when you stand in one area, and count all the different colors that surround you on the golf course.  In this thread I will start it out with a couple of pictures that show the multiple colors, and then hope that all of you have a couple pictures that have the rainbow effect on your eyes.

The dog is Murphy.  He died last week after a happy life as the Club dog.

I've seen an architecture, something new, that has been in my mind for years and I am glad to see a man with A.V. Macan's ability to bring it out. - Gene Sarazen

I recall the gorse in Troon being amazing.  The Portland course was quite striking (moreso than the championship course which perhaps had it trimmed back somewhat due to the requirement for galleries during tournament play)

Even more so at the municipal courses in Troon, though I didn't appreciate it so much at the time because some of those corridors were pretty narrow and I seemed to be adding my golf balls to the collection within its thorny grip a bit too frequently!
My hovercraft is full of eels.

Just a couple from this neck of the woods. First photo is of the 7th hole and the second is from the 8th both at Highland Links, Cape Breton
Thompson golf holes were created to look as if they had always been there and were always meant to be there.
