Jeremy and Ian:

Four fairways over?

Which way, left or right?

Ian,

You were there, too, when he hit it in the ocean off the 1st tee at Highlands Links back in September  ;D

(For those who've not been to Cape Breton, the ocean isn't a "feature" at the 1st hole at Highlands Links... but it's OUT THERE, on the right!)

To my respective critics:

Dick knows that I only hit two warm up drives off the first tee into the woods on the right when we played Otter Creek last year. And there was the farm house I hit on the right of three. And the house with that bladed wedge later in the round....

Damn. Maybe you have a point.

But Glenn doesn't know -- he watched me smash Royal Montreal into submission two years ago. John Daly had nothing on me that night, aside from three extra wives and a couple of major championships!

Mingay -- be careful with your stories or maybe you'll get yourself uninvited.

Speaking of which, are you coming?

Jeff,

I understood he hit it so far right on the 1st tee at Highlands Links that he  "missed" the ocean! ;D

That is possible, Ian! (Too funny.)

Don't know if I can make it or not. My schedule for June is up in the air right now. I'd have to commit at the last minute.

Thanks for the invite, Rob  ;)

Jeff -- I'm sure they will give you time away from raking bunkers on the greens crew at Roseland for minimum wage.  ;D

And we'd love to have Canada's foremost Dick Wilson/Trent Jones expert join us.  ::)

Rob,

I'm not a Dick Wilson expert, I'm a Dick Kirkpatrick expert... this is why you really need me there  ;)

I'm looking forward to 20-30 years from now when I'm hired to "restore" Otter Creek and Copetown Woods!

Jeff:

You might have to wait more than 30 years, I'm pretty stubborn.

I'm young, Dick. I can wait!

RT.  I'll try and make it.  Would be good to see Ben if he's in town.

I agree with Henry, it would be great to have Ben join us.

I would love to hear about Cape Breton and how it is developing.

Maybe Ran can show up also and we will have a real toonamint.

Still a go. The owners have kindly allowed us to play for free and Ian is hosting a barbeque afterwards. I'll have details on tee times soon -- but I suspect we're early afternoon.

Guys -- we are set for this. The plan is to play in the early afternoon and then have a barbeque/watch the US Open/drink beer at Mr. Andrew's place nearby. I'd like to reconfirm those who plan to attend. The golf is free, btw.

When we last checked we had the following:

Dick Kirkpatrick
Ian Andrew
Robert Thompson
Matt Bosela
Chris Parker
Guy Nicholson
Gerry B
mark chalfant
Wayne Kozun
Yannick Pilon
Dave Kemp
Greg McMullin (caddy services inc.)
TJ Rule

I know that Chris Parker can't make it -- how about the rest? I need to let the club know, especially since they are blocking off green fees for us.

I haven't heard back from anyone on this -- if I can't confirm some participants by Tuesday, I'll call it off. Otherwise send me a PM or an email at robertthompson8@sympatico.ca to confirm.

Hey Robert,

My recent visit to Toronto means I am going to have t miss this opportunity to play with you guys on June 20th.  Plus, I have to go to Maine that week-end.  Hopefully I'll play Cape Arundel this time!

Thanks for setting this up, though.  I hope you guys have fun!

When are we going to do this in Montreal?

Ian Andrew
Robert Thompson
Dave Kemp
Matt Bosela
Guy Nicholson
Greg McMullin (caddying, not playing -- on injured reserve)

Any other takers? The game is early afternoon at Otter Creek. The golf is free for GCA types.

Come on guys!  We need to get a couple foursomes at least!  Maybe Ian will prepare a couple of quiz questions while he's flipping burgers at Casa Andrew later that night.

Looking forward to the day.  Again, many thanks to you Rob and Dick for organizing this and to Ian for hosting us afterwards.
