Who Am I - 3rd Edition
« on: February 07, 2020, 02:22:15 AM »
I was far too liberal and permissive in the first two rounds in 2019... (Chi Chi and JC Snead in like a combined 20 minutes)

Hopefully I'll give you more of a challenge this turn:

First Five Clues:

1. Since the professional majors era (1934 - present) began, I am one of the exactly 150 golfers (I counted) who have won between 1 and 3 majors.

2. In America, it seems I can only win on a Donald Ross design.

3. I complete the following sequence... Sam Snead...John Mahaffey...Mike Donald...Sergio Garcia and (fill in me)

4. I also could be rightly paired with TC Chen, as we both (Fill In and you will know who I am)

5. My breakthrough major was tallied in the worst majors' season ever, when the winners of the four events carried the lowest combined ranking coming into the tournaments since World Golf Rankings have existed.

I got it already. Sorry :)

I'll keep it to myself for awhile.

...6 minutes?

Seems I haven't learned a thing.

It was 3 and 5 that tipped it for me.

I admit I wasn't sure about that one. My first thought was "did he hit a shot twice?".

Shaun Micheel who's only official PGA Tour win IS his major... on Oak Hill...who completed the train of players who finished runners up at Medinah in majors... who along with TC Chen has made the only double eagles in USOp...who won that sole major event in 2003 when it was Weir, Furyk, Curtis, and he...

Micheel is right.

The #3 connection is Medinah #3. All of those players finished second in a major there. In order, 1949 US Open, 1975 US Open, 1990 US Open, 1999 PGA, 2006 PGA.

(Question #3, was that a subtle hint?)

Number 5 just immediately screams "2003" so I narrowed it down pretty quickly to him or Ben Curtis.
