I'll chime in.....I've played a few.
Lakeridge - Just ok....because the only thing I can remember playing is their signature hole....the crazy par 3 to an island green from tees 100 ft above!
D'Andrea, Red Hawk, Wolf Run - Have played all 3, but honestly can't remember much special about any of them. Take it for what you will. I remember bad courses just as much as I remember great ones....so maybe no memory is not so bad. All had decent conditioning, just nothing screamed out to me about the architecture.
Old Greenwood - Should definetely make an effort for this one....when I played it last fall I would have deemed it the poster child for "fast and firm," the conditioning along these lines was perfect. Plus you have a pretty solid layout in beautiful forested mountains.
Whitehawk - Played it once in high school, so it was quite some time ago, and I remember being pretty blown away by it, in a good way. But I think it was still a very new course then, in great condition with a beautiful layout. Not sure what it looks like now.
The Dragon - This is still open, but called Nakoma Golf Resort. It's on my list of must-plays for the year, simply to see any changes they might have made from the original design, and the much talked about Frank Lloyd Wright clubhouse.
Martis Camp & Coyote Moon - I've heard nothing but good things. Great things even about Martis Camp....but haven't been up to these yet. I think Coyote Moon will be on my must-plays for next year at the latest, since it's designed by the same archie as my current course.
Geneoa Lakes vs. Resort - Played here for my Bachelor Party....all my research told me the Resort was the way to go. I would agree. Played to fast and firm and liked the front 9 layout alot. Some fun greens. Unfortunately they were building houses in the middle of the back 9 loop when I was there, which are probably done by now. Wish they could have kept them away......could be a really great course.....but I guess it wouldn't be "Resort" without some places to stay.
All in all, the newest wave of courses in the Truckee/Tahoe area are where you'll find your most enjoyment I think. Unfortunately, every time I look to/visit Reno, it just seems to be lacking in the golf catagory. But then Vegas doesn't have much to boast about either.....maybe it's a casino town thing.
Regardless, looks like you've got the best bets already booked. I'm sure you can find one or two decent if not slightly less spectacular rounds to finish up the trip.
