I'm assuming this photo is of ADub. This is from the August 6, 1905 issue of the New York Tribune. The caption of the photo below is "Freak Golf Tournament Makes Fun For Adirondack Visitors".

Joe,
I believe Tilly's stint with the Taliban was thankfully short-lived.

I see John Duncan Dunn is trying to imitate one of Devie Emmet's personifications----most likely the one he would use about two decades later when he played at one of his more interesting designs, Marion Hollins' Womens National GC.

How can GCA be so reluctant to commend you for your wonderful input to our conversation.
We need a rating like the USGA for your introspection !

The "freaky" description seems accurate considering the rough carved tree branch used as a club.
Tilly looks like he is in a costume, wondering how that fits into the event.

Is it me or does it look like that guy is going to get one up the kilt?

You won't believe this but Tilly and Dev Emmet had the same tailor. And he is pictured right here swinging the club. This proves my theory about the MISSING TAILOR of New York.
That's not really very funny is it? Too obscure.
I know, I shouldn't even try to be funny here.

Emmet was one of the original founders of the Adirondack League Club ... is that what you guys mean?
