Well, Thanksgiving Point has some windmills you could line up on, though they are only very prominent on a par 3, so no real help there.
South Mountain out in Utah as well had one or two holes where Kalen told me to aim at the spire on the Draper LDS Temple, which made for a good landmark.
But I can't think of anything in NC that is obvious to aim for, but is not natural. I mean, obviously, you tell someone to aim between the hills on the 1st tee at Tobacco Road. But I can't think of any other courses that have anything major like that. (Though I must admit, I generally don't pay attention to stuff in the distance unless its really obvious, like the nuclear cooling towers)
