Man, if it isn't, he wasted twenty or more years of his life fine tuning it!! That's a tough question, because I've played two of his northeastern courses, The Orchards and Country Club of Buffalo and like them much more than I did #2. Perhaps if I played #2 four times, I would appreciate the subtleties and nuances. It's almost like The Old Course; you don't necessarily "get it" the first time, but you can claim the trophy for having played it and crossed it off your list. Do you see yourself coming back east ever? If so, I suggest you play Pine Needles, Mid Pines, Southern Pines (all Ross) and Tobacco Road (Strantz, the anti-Ross) this time through. If you like Ross, make #2 the featured stop next trip.
