On their way to the trash can 1
« on: January 06, 2009, 11:47:35 AM »
I'm getting rid of a lot of unnecessary junk from my office, and a few bits and bobs might just catch your fancy, so I'll share them with you (in the order I find them on the floor).

Golf World Top-25 courses in Continental Europe 1988 and Top-50 1991 and 1997 (with the architects they cite). It's interesting to note the changes in taste. Their panels included staff writers, Michael Bonallack, Peter Dobereiner, Ken Scofield, Tommy Horton, Peter McEvoy, Donald Steel, Michael Williams and each of the golf federations of Europe.

Coore and Whitman did a course together in the heart of wine country in France? Talk about your ideal destination course ...

Has anyone played the course and remained sober enough to report to the treehouse?

Thanks, Mark

It confirms my fading memory that St. Jeans de Mont was a top-50 course when I first played it in the mid 90's.  Very good it is, indeed.

Rich

PS--shouldn't one of the entries read:

36. Golf de (sic) Medoc (hic) Coore and Whitman

?

I played it a few years ago. Really enjoyed both of them. Couple of bad early mornings though I seem to remember.
