Here is another course in the southport region that seems to get little notice on this site. It is a regional qualifying course for the Open. Anybody with opinions on it?

We are so lucky with the quality of our second-string courses. It does not challenge the top 100, but it's a thoroughly good course with the advantage of being totally cut off from civilization. The problem is that the first half is wide open and lengthy, the back nine tight and short, Harold Hilton's original course. It's a lovely course, but an architectural masterpiece? Probably not.

My grandfather was a member. It was a treat and a pleasure to play in the 70's and 80's. Nothing else to add other that to second MR's comments.
