Hmmmm... never would have thought there would be 3 courses better than Rock Creek. Thats quite impressive.  According to Shivas it looks like there will be 4 new entries into the top 10 US list.

Seeing this list just adds insult to injury knowing that I chose the forgettable 'Ledges' over both Sand Hollow and Chase @ Coyote Springs.  From various posts it appears very few from the tree house have played the 'Chase'.  Can anyone offer a review or either the 'Chase' or Sand Hollow?

I'm surprised that the courses are ranked, considering that, to the best of my knowledge, no one actually votes on this "ranking" -- the editors just put it together through word of mouth.

Or at least that's how they've done it before, unless they've changed the system.  I know for a fact that the panel that votes on the top 100 courses doesn't vote on "best new".

I had the priveledge to play Encanterra this past winter.  I enjoyed it emencely, in fact, I thought it was one of the better courses I played this year.  The fairways are incredibly wide, giving tons of options for playing approaches from different angles.  Huge chipping areas around the greens.  I remember a few of the par 4's being pretty long, but I certainly didn't feel beat up at the end of the day.  The course was in excellent condition, as well.  Very solid course in my opinion.

9) The Idaho Club

Wait a second!  I'm rather familiar wit the N Idaho golf courses and have played Hidden Lakes (Idaho Club) a number of times over the years.  I'm actually credited (in acknowledgements) in Sidorsky's "365 days of golf" with getting Hidden Lakes in his book.  The new Nicklaus nine opened so late this year that I'm surprised anybody has seen it much less a voting panel.  I was asked to wait until the spring to see the place when I asked this fall to come out.

2) Trump National - Bedminster, NJ

Get 2nd in Best New Private when it just opened end of August/beginning of September?

I was told by someone pretty well "in the know" during my tour late July that Donald was going to be the first one to play the course--how did that many people see it in a month/month and a half?

Furthermore, let me say this--it's no surprise to me that the "New" course is so highly touted there...I thought it was a "better" track than his other one on the property, and didn't even play it! (And I thought there were some very good holes on the other course!)
