How about "An Extraordinary Career"

These are Whigham's words about Raynor from the Country Life article that gave you the title for Evangelist.

I don't care what you call it, just get that book published.  I cannot wait to buy it.  Evangelist is easily my favorite golf book.

George,

I see your challenge on this one.

I thought your original "Seth the Surveyor" worked well.

RJ:

I like that one a whole lot. Do you think it would be appropriate to put right under that in parentheses in the title; "(And they may not even realize which one they're at)"

It must be "Template Tuesday" here on GCA.com.  Hiaku Wednesday, and double bubble every Friday.  8)

I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Seth Raynor - The Engineering Artist

I think that Mike hit the nail on the head with the first post by playing up Raynor's engineering past.

However, to reach out to the everyday Barnes & Nobles customer, I think that something a little more direct with "Golf" in the title would help:

Seth Raynor: The Engineer of Golf

(which also plays on the Macdonald book title)
"Spem successus alit"
 (success nourishes hope)

Well George...

If you're not going to pick "Insethable", which I love for obvious reasons ;), then I think Adam's is a slight improvement on my original.

However, to up the ante, I'd change his to;

Seth Raynor - The Engineering Artist of Golf

btw...I did get to play both Sleepy Hollow and Essex County this year.

You are on a serious roll and you're living the dream.   It couldn't happen to a more-deserving guy.

Mike, thanks for the kind words and your input on the title

- actually I just finishing putting in about dozen strategic fairway bunkers at Essex County that the club never let Banks put in originally. You now, finally,  have to think a bit    (:P)  off the tee
If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.

George,

I have been to Essex twice and it remains a mystery to me why the course is not higher ranked.  The back 9 at Essex is my favorite back 9 I have ever played.  Great to hear you made it more "strategic" off the tee (I'll translate for my own game - harder   ;)).  Here I was thinking I had a chance to break 80 the next time I made it up there....  Having seen your work first hand at SH (and I loved everything you guys did), I can't wait to see how it turned out.

Mike - What were your thoughts on Essex?

Final story on Essex - Last year we played on a brutally hot August day, 100 degrees and had a teenager carrying both of our bags (and he did a loop that morning).  As we are all struggling to the top of the hill on 17, I turn to our caddy and say "This will probably be the toughest twenty dollars you have every earned...   ;D"  The kid looks at me with total disbelief until I assure him that we were joking.  That broke the ice enough for him to tell us about how the 18th tee was his prime spot for him to bring girls out to at twligiht...

The Logician of Golf

or

The Pragmatist of Golf (goes well with your first title!)

Seems like a good fit for what I know of Seth and have seen of his work -

prag·ma·tist      /ˈprægmətɪst/
noun 1. a person who is oriented toward the success or failure of a particular line of action, thought, etc.; a practical person.

Philosophy: A movement consisting of varying but associated theories, originally developed by Charles S. Peirce and William James and distinguished by the doctrine that the meaning of an idea or a proposition lies in its observable practical consequences.
A practical, matter-of-fact way of approaching or assessing situations or of solving problems.
