George,

how about....

'Seth Raynor – off the Radar.'

Then add your own subtitle.

Seems most people in the wider world have no idea who he was.

Sean - I agree to a point

We were a little worried about the word "Evangelist" in the title for book one

One the other hand, these architecture books a not big sellers and mine hardly ever showed on bookshelves of the large book stores - I was told to expect that. It was disappointing but not a surprise ..... so with this more limited audience, all this, may not be a major issue.

Thank you everyone for the responses so far.
If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.

I understand the limited appeal of these books, but there is no sense in being obscure.  I don't think the title of your first book is out of whack because you threw in "Golf" - a very important part of the title if you ask me.  Thats all I am saying.

Lloyd Cole has it right and offered the suggestion I was thinking of - The Engineer: The Life and Golf Courses of Seth Raynor.

It should be simple and not overwrought. I don't really understand a lot of the responses being offered.

One of my favorite resources on this site is the Feature Interview describing all of the template holes.  Such holes are so widespread, not only on Raynor courses, but elsewhere that I would try and work that concept into the title.

I would also try and juxtapose the geometric idea of templates against the general success of more naturalness in golf course design.  Something like:

This title is a bit long but if the print is small enough it could fill up the cover and I feel it is incredibly appropriate:

How about just simply

Seth Raynor

This will be the first and definitive work about him. Let those that follow add subtitles.
