We all have opinions on course deign and architecture - some of the people  who contribute on the site are trained and do this for a living, thus should be considered one of the finer minds in the golf world.

Personally, I may be just a legend in my own mind, but do like to share the opinions generated on occasion.

Of course I am.....we all are! And why?

“We think so because other people all think so, Or because - or because - after all we do think so, Or because we were told so, and think we must think so, Or because we once thought so, and think we still think so, Or because having thought so, we think we will think so.” - Henry Sidgwick

Put me down as one who knows I know nothing.

Clearly Adam is one of the finest minds in golf!

My wife says I think too much of myself already, to even contemplate this question.

You all realize, of course, that JK is merely seeing who responds to this message.

"OK, he's full of himself...he thinks he's a great mind...TEPaul, check...JES, check...Kirk, definitely needy and self absorbed"

There are no great minds in golf.  It's just a game.  But if we calculate the dynamics of a ball that strikes the ground at 105 mph, at an angle theta of pi/3 radians, and we assume that the coefficient of restitution for a parkland course is 0.25, then we can begin to make some sense out of this design.

Hi John.  Happy to have you back.  Mean it.

In retrospect, this sounds terse and somewhat rude.

A little shy about featured so prominently in this thread.

Why?

Yes why bump this? This thread was dead from the very first post. Apparently John does not understand that claiming himself to be one of the finest minds in golf automatically disqualifies him from even remotely being considered so.

Sorry, guys, but notwithstanding all this humility, faux-humility and blindly-ignorant humility, I'm sticking with my original position.

There are 1500 of us. And even if there are 10 lurkers for every participant and 10 guys who know as much about GCA as every participant and lurker, that still means that even the biggest dunce/fool on here is one of the finest minds in golf.

I hate to say this, because as we all know, there are some total imbeciles on this site that are here for the wrong reasons (they know who they are), but despite that fact,  anybody who has actually found his way to this site and spent more than 8 hours reading and absorbing any on-topic threads on this site knows more about GCA than 99.9 percent of the 40 million+ golfers (or whatever it is) in the world.

I get humility when it's warranted. But not at the expense of truth. And the truth is that being one of the finest minds in golf is a pretty doggone low bar, and always has been.

Another self-disqualification

Since everyone likes lists... here's the parts per million of gca'ers vs golfer population circa 2003

a cleaner listing..  1% = 10,000 ppm... 0.01% = 100 ppm... 0.0001% = 1 ppm
