Lets go play Soule Park!
« on: November 18, 2008, 09:50:05 AM »
Talking to that golf whore, David Stamm, we are planning to go up to Soule Park very soon. How about one of those little get-togethers where we can all tell more lies?

I'm thinking the first part of December. How about you?

Plan on me being available.  Make it late enough in the morning as they get frost this time of year.  Tommy I know you conversed with Gil on this project.  I would like to hear your thoughts on what else he wanted to do, couldn't do, and why he did some of the things he did.  Tweaking still needs to take place.
It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

Unfortuantely, as you know Lynn, some unwanted (myself and others) and unmerited tweaking has already taken place.

Lynn,
I was out there a total of two days, enjoying the festive atmosphere of the Ojai Valley while walking about the place with Larry Rodgers as we GPS'ed sprinkler heads and other features. (Larry is a great teacher!)

Glad to have you aboard with that golf whore, David Stamm....

Bummer.  I could have done Christmas time.

Next time.

That might be tough for me if I'm in Tacoma. Right now, its a 50/50 dea, but we'll put that date on the list and see what the committee thinks. (all of us)

It's nice to be wanted... I guess.  ;)

Tell ya what Tommy - you get up here to play Pasatiempo and then I'll get down there to play Soule Park.

But Benham knows my life.  I have basically zero free weekends.   Now a December weekday before Christmas... if Benham drives, I'm there.

No doubt with 'Rocketman' playing in the background as you're flying down...

Hmmmm ... I could drive down and back in the same day ...

A vote goes down for during the week of BEFORE xmas.

Tom, I'm going to be coming up soon, probably just after the first of the year.

Just to be clear... my vote (if I have one, which I really shouldn't) would be for a weekday before Christmas.  I don't expect to win this election.

And please do let me (us) know if you do come up here.  Pasatiempo does need to be seen and it would be a darn good excuse for me to play it again.

If we rent a bus from SoCal I am interested.  Would also consider a two-day, one night with RC and F. Richardson's course nearby.

Tommy,

I might be out to LA at the end of January if you wanted to have a second annual ...........

Last year I only managed to get through 15 holes at Soule Park before running off to a tee time at Ojai.  Damn frost delays.

Bryan,
We can try to do another get-together at that time; I know that my cohorts are dying to get up to Soule, hence this discussion...I mean if Stamm has to wait till the end of December to play there, I can only think of the Hell his wife must be going through, the guinea wop that she is.... ;)
