Polo Trace, Delray Beach Golf Club or TPC Heron Bay
« on: November 17, 2008, 03:51:09 PM »
It looks like I may have a couple of days in December to play while my wife is at meetings.  If I go, we will be staying in Delray Beach.

These courses look like the best options to me.  Any opinions?

Polo Trace DEFINITELY gets the nod over Heron Bay, not sure about the other
only Augusta National left to play from the Top 100!

I have played Delray Beach GC. It's a Ross but fairly basic- nothing wonderful. I haven't played the others but I'd suggest Roy Case's Park Ridge GC in nearby Lake Worth. It's built on a landfill, has elevation unsual for Florida, no houses and  is fun to play with a 6-6-6 routing.

I can agree with that. Also the cost will likely be far less than any of the others, even with the cost of gas. I won't say that is has NO houses as there are a few in view, but none come into play. Its a very fun place to play, reminds me more of Pinehurst area than South Florida. Even Lake Worth Municipal is a good track, every hole with views of the water and not a really boring layout.

Thanks for the suggestion.  There is no way I would have come up with Park Ridge on my own.
