I realize maybe no one can make the date, but there's a 90% chance I'll play around noon on the 24th as I make my way down from SF to Carlsbad.

Ho, ho, ho...

David, pick a day and time that is good for you.  The rest will fill in as best they can.  I am flexible.  Maybe I will ask Gil for a summary of some of what he was trying, under restrictions, to accomplish architecturally.  That way we can have a round with some architecture involved and some lively debate afterward.
The course is not without its controversy with the locals.

As for the 24th, Patrick, I doubt you will get many, but I may be available.  Cannot make any promise at this time.
It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.
