Name those aerials - Desert theme!
« on: November 12, 2008, 05:20:13 PM »
In the spirit of the AOTD threads, here's  a name the aerial thread.

From top to bottom #1-4

Hint:  All of these courses have been mentioned, some more than others, on GCA.com.

I'm gonna take a wild stab at the last one...because one nine and the other are so far away from one another...Troon North?

#4 is not Troon North.

Hint: Look closer at the dirt patches.  ;D

#1 is the Moab Golf Club

What's the big idea with the photos named "Course_1.jpg"  ??

I much prefer the one's named like "LincolnParkOld3rdTeeAreaAfterSlide1.jpg"    ;D

Tom,

Another good call.

As for the course names, I know its such a drag using generic names like that...although I suspect you may have used those street names in Pic 1 to find out that course.  ;)

Ya think?  8)

Never been to Moab.  Have you played that course?

Never played Shadow Creek either but I did recognize that aerial 'cause I was looking at it recently (probably because of a discussion here !)

#2 - looks like a farm!

#4 - I can see another 9 being built on the course on the lower left.

Last one - Pronghorn, Montana?

There's a hole with 2 ponds that looks a lot like a ground-level shot in the last Golfweek.

Hmmm...never been to Moab.  Do my eyes deceive me or are there very few, almost no bunkers?

Quick!  name a new course recently opened out west with no bunkers.

Sorry Matt, not Pronghorn.

Dave...figures you'd be making some kind of wisecrack on here.  ;)

Yes it is Moab.  Not exactty great achitecture but worth a look if your in that remote part of Utah.  I usually go down there for the off-roading and if I want to play golf head south to Forrests Hideout.

#2 and 4 still up for grabs!!

Is the last one Wolf Creek?  I've never seen the course other than a few photos, but that looks like what I think an aerial of that course would look like.

Is #2 Furnace Creek?  (I think that's the name of the course in Death Valley.)

Jay, Four Mile Ranch.

Speaking of Jim Engh, is #4 his work?

Kalen,

My first thought was The Gallery, but it looks like some of the holes on the top right are in a canyon and I don't think they have that topography there.

With your clue about the two different archies I know that's not it.

Is #4 Promontory in Utah? Top right is the Dye course and lower left the front nine of the Nicklaus course?

Andy,

Nice work, I figured you would recognize it.  ;D  It was a bit of tough one as the front 9 of the Nicklaus course was still under construction when they took the aerial shot.
