Opening Holes (Picture identification) - Medium difficulty
« on: November 11, 2008, 04:23:57 PM »
These opening holes should be a little more difficult to identify than the first batch, but I'm sure they will still get identified pretty quickly given the group on this site.

Tony, I knew I wouldn't be able to get that one past you.  I didn't have the greatest day for pics when I was there which makes it a little more difficult to identify but I knew you would nail it.  I like the new pic you provided, it looks nice.

I am happy to report that I didn't know a single one of those.  I guess I've been to at least one of them ... Colonial ... but that was 27 years ago.

Bill:

I think #5 is the par-3 16th at Red Sky Ranch's Norman course. Andy had previously said it was from the Fazio 18 at RSR.

I'll guess that #9 is from the Snake River Sport Club -- could be the 1st hole there.

Matt,
The point of the thread is opening holes...I'm still pretty sure its the 1st at RSR Fazio. It does look like #16 Norman a bit though, not nearly as severly downhill.

I think #3 is Circling Raven and I'm not 100% sure but I think #7 may be Red Hawk but i'm not sure about the bunker on the left being there from my memory.  The shape of the hole and look is exactly like it though.

Lots of great answers, I knew 6 and 7 would be tougher to get.  Here are the answers:

1.  Coral Canyon (Washington, UT - Keith Foster)
2.  Hazeltine National (Chaska, MN - Robert Trent Jones Sr.)
3.  Circling Raven (Worley, ID - Gene Bates0
4.  Members Club at Aldarra (Fall City, WA - Tom Fazio)
5.  Red Sky (Wolcott, CO - Tom Fazio)
6.  Carlton Woods (The Woodlands, TX - Tom Fazio)
7.  Carlton Woods (The Woodlands, TX - Jack Nicklaus)
8.  Colonial CC (Fort Worth, TX - John Bredemus/Maxwell Perry)
9.  Snake River Sporting Club (Jackson, WY - Tom Weiskopf)
