TX GCA'ers - April 17 at Rawls Course, Lubbock
« on: November 08, 2008, 10:31:05 AM »
 8) As the saying goes.. I wasn't born here , but I got here as soon as I could..

Were using this thread for promoting TX GCA'er Outings for those living and lurking in and around TX (both body and spirit)

GO TO PAGE 3 for latest 2010 Census  , GO TO PAGE 5+ for Rawls outing Apr 16/17 talk..

Ben sims has been itching to go to The Rawls Course.. The Langs are gonna head that way 16/17 Apr for a round or two and then hop to ABQ/Black Mesa for an extended lost weekend..  anyone game for the 17th with Ben???

=================================================================================
There's over 800 courses in TX, from the Piney Woods area bordering LA, through the Praries and Lakes region stretching from OK to the Gulf, to the South TX Plains, up through Hill Country, to the Panhandle Plains, and over to Big Bend Country on the western tip..

267,000 square miles of real estate.. 4 PGA Tour Stops..a few classic courses and perhaps too much gumbo soil and limestone.. but if you want to play, there's no excuse year round..  and no lack of challenge.. in the big cities or in between..

Hi Steve!
Appreciate your including me on the list. Moved about 7 mos. ago to NC (Cary / Raleigh) - hoping that I can at least have honorary residency in the greatest state (republic!) in the union!

Daniel Aleman, 51, Austin: Westlake High '75, UT '79. I've played every course in the area many times, and am a charter member of The Hills C.C. in Lakeway.

I live in the Dallas area (Frisco) and had the pleasure of playing today with fellow GCA'ers Kyle Krahenbuhl (already mentioned), Robert Warren (student at SMU) and Mike Beene (long time Dallas resident).  So three more for your list.

Hi Casey! I thought you hired me for my storytelling. Great thread here Steve!!!!! Drew is at 290 and Barker Cypress (though he's not at Houston National). The Mrs. and I just walked in from seeing the King Tut Tour in Dallas and instead of unloading my car I'm posting on here. I will say that Dallas Country Club looked gorgeous last night, I didn't get to play but instead watched the Mrs. have a shopping spree.

 8) Tom,

Lou may be damaged goods now considering his time spent in Orange County, we'd probably be able to pick him up for travel/moving expenses back to Big D..

shrub will be welcomed back home, in spite of what he's done or not done..
how'd he do that?

Steve,

Thanks for leaving out the welcome mat for me.  It's been two lonnnnng years and I am but a shell of my former self.  It will likely require a very slow, low-riding turnip truck for me to be able to hop on and hitch a ride back to the real America.  And while Tommy can't wait to send me east on the 10, the CA Franchise Tax Board has other thoughts.  They may not appreciate my politics here, but they do like my money.  Not to worry.  Given the first opportunity, I won't let the door hit me in the ass.

 8)  Lou,

Great to hear from you, ,, first thing you'll have to do is start speaking english and drop-stop using MexiCali speak when referring to highways/freeways, e.g., "la 10 and la 405"...  :o

p.s. saw your old golfing haunt in Findlay along I-75 was up for sale last summer

Well thanks Robert.  Of course you have the short game to go along with your buttery swing.  In fact Kyle, Robert and Mike were all wizards with the flat stick.
