Looking for specific information on UK&I Links Courses
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:04:49 AM »
Any help would be very much appreciated...

I wish to find a comprehensive guide to when UK&I Links courses were constructed... Specifically, I am trying to put them in to the following blocks by country (England, Scotland, Ireland only):

pre-1910
1910 - 1950
1950 - 1990
1990 - present

The easiest way I've found to do this in Ireland is by trawling through the GUI handbook which lists all 400 odd clubs and when the club was founded... This will give slightly different info to when the course was built but I know sufficient information about Irish courses to know where some double-checking is needed...

This approach is useless for England though with many more clubs of which I know a lot less about...

Other than Cornish & Whitten, are there any places I could start to look for this info?

Thanks in advance,
Ally

My copy of the Sunday Telegraph Guide to the Golf Courses of GB&I has the founding date of almost all the golf clubs listed.

R&A Handbook gives founding dates.
Why not Wales? It is part of the UK and has some excellent links courses.

Adrian, I've just sent you an IM... Melvyn, I've dropped you a mail...

Thank you so much for your offers of help...

Mark, I don't know why I didn't include Wales - I was trying to reduce the amount of info I was searching for... But sure, Wales as well if the info is easy to hand...

Thanks guys,
Ally
