I like the amber waves of grain lining the fairways. Why did they bail them out? I mean bale them up?

Eric, thanks for the cool  photos.

The holes look well designed and  very fun to play.  Is it Old Farm by Bobby Weed  in Virginia ??

If you got 10 guesses to name this course based solely on the pictures,
ye might get it!

Dan,

What is this, AOTD?  Should we count our chickens before they hatch?

Someone above may onto things about the architect.....a dope of a guy from around the joint.

Here's a couple from one of my favorite holes on the course, the short par 4 5th:

with a huge Punchbowl green:

guest cottages on #1

The reigning Super Bowl MVP and his guests were staying in the middle cabin the day we played and other than our group pretty much had the course to themselves.

Matt C-
That hay feeds the local beef I suspect.  Notice the fence rows in play in the above pic?  The working farm theme is maximized at this place.

Ronald -
Not Erin Hills.  Ever seen a rebel flag in Wisconsin?  :D

Yes, he burned me many many times with his ever so subtle internal contouring.  For example:

I loved that punchbowl green, as shown in Scott's pic above even though I 4-putted that one.  Difficult greens to read the first go round.

Jason,

As if you know anything about this "Keeper of the Grass" architect.....if anyone should have a biographical book about a pot bunker.....

This state's polls have now closed.

Mark Chalfant wins Virginia!

It is indeed The Olde Farm, designed by Bobby Weed.  Currently ranked #59 on the Golfweek Top 100 Modern List.

I suspect many of you guys knew the answer as well, thanks for participating in NTC - Virginia.

Anyone have a NTC candidate for any of the other battleground states?

Edit: Scott Burroughs has a candidate running in the next battleground, see above post!

I know the answer to the second Battleground Course, but I cannot back into what the clues mean...

If I guess right does that mean my pick wins Pennsylvania? Could be huge...

Eric,

Thanks for posting these pics of The Olde Farm.  That was an awesome day this summer from start to finish we had great weather and perfect playing conditions.  Those greens were some of the best I played all season like The Honors and Holston Hills.

I need to see if I have any pics that I could add to this thread.  For me I was too busy enjoying the day playing and just taking in the experience being on the farm.  You are missing a couple pics that showed the raw native fescue grass growing vertical on those bunker faces that were like 24" tall it was just amazing to see the contrast between wild and manicured.

Where is the picture of the big stone house (OG) up on the hill overlooking the course?

I will always remember that smoked 2 wood that you drove the green and almost hit the flag on that short par 4.  What a day I just wish we could get together and do that every month with friends.  Eli Manning hanging out in a cottage for the weekend playing with his buddies!

We teed off at 11:00 am and we were the first group off that day.  Maybe a total of 8 people played the course the entire time we played our round?

Thanks,
Matt

The Olde Farm is truly a special place.  Unbelievable, nearly, in every regard.

Next time I'm there, I'll try to get a snapshot of the owner's home, which is the only private residence on site.  It's 42,000 square feet on one level.

I would agree The Olde Farm is a very special place dedicated to a pure golf experience with great service, great facilities and a really fun traditional course.  Our member host that day was a true southern gentleman and everything was perfect including the sunny weather.  It has a feeling of home and you are comfortable the minute you get out of you car once you arrive.

The staff is first class and anything you need they will get it for you to enjoy your day.  I love the entrance driving over the cattle grate in the road.  Everyone starts scrambling to get in position a member has arrived and wants to play golf.  The civil war theme to the club gray vs. blue just makes it that much more special and unique than 99% of most golf clubs you will ever play in your life.  Its on my short list of the clubs I would like join down the road.
