Those are all issues seperate from "would it make it a better golf course".

Interesting, as I would say the first three reasons, for certain, make it a better golf course.

I played Stone Eagle down in Palm Desert last week.  Working our way up the 10th hole, at the top of the course, my wife spotted two bighorn sheep at the top of a distant ridge.  Those bighorns made Stone Eagle a better golf course, as far as I was concerned.  There's only about 200 of them left.

Friars Head is the course that I most want to play in the world.  I can't imagine a place that looks and more nature or fun.  A mix of Cypress and County Down with Pac Dunes greens?????

Jeff,

I agree what an amazing golf course to play.  Friar's Head is on my short list to play in life with ANGC, Pine Valley and Cypress Point.  The natural beauty along with trees, bunkering and open space is the complete package.

I have heard great stories of this place like no rakes in the bunkers, no yardages on the course it is a place you play by feel.  No Phones, No Blackberries its pure golf walking the course and enjoying the experience.

Hey Matt.

Last time I visited Friar's Head, the clubhouse wasn't up yet and there was a forest of trees between the aforementioned holes, #1 and #9... again, to see the difference in the image taken at the 9th tee, with the trees down and the clubhouse there, is stunning.

Friar's Head is indeed an amazing place. Ken Bakst and all involved, most notably Coore and Crenshaw and their crew (Dave Axland, et al), as well as Bill Jones, golf course superintendent and staff, deserve a lot of credit for the thoughtfulness, talent, and patience they've shown throughout creation and continued development of Friar's Head.

Matt,

I really love the way those cell phones pics came out.  Almost gives the holes a bit of a surreal quality, almost like its a water painting or something.  Just spectacular stuff!!
