Wow.  In order...

King's Putter IV
King's Putter II
GCA.com article in SI
King's Putter I

I see so many faces.   It's been way too long since I have gotten together with some of you guys.  If any of you guys head out to the Palm Springs area this year, please contact me.  If I can fit a round in with any of you I'd love to do it.

By the way, I love the top picture.  I captained my team to a victory to win the King's Putter for So. Cal. that year.  Standing next to me (I'm the guy with the putter, smoking a cigar) is a beaming So. Cal. teammate, Joe Perches, and up top with us is the "King" himself, Mr. Dan King (whom the King's Putter is named after).  I think directly below me is Jeff Goldman (who may have hit one of the best shots I have ever seen when he, Gib and I played Olympic Lake a day or two before the event).  I see Evan Fleisher, Bob Huntley, Mike Benham, Peter Pittock, my main man Gib Papazian (the crazy Armenian), Lou Duran, Ed Getka, Bill McBride, Joel Stewart and of course the defeated Nor. Cal. Captain, "I heart" Tom Huckabee.  Mike, you have a great picture of Tom handing the putter and the look of disgrace on Tom's face is priceless.  Please feel free to post that one... it makes my heart warm.

Well, to any of you I didn't name in the picture I apologize.  it's been 3 years I think and if you shout out your name I'll remember quickly.  Thanks for posting the photos Mike.  I have had a great time at each King's Putter event that I went to.

I haven't seen the SI article before.  Any chance you could post the other pages?

I know this came up previously and it went ... nowhere.

Where's that damn putter that needs to head back up to NorCal?

If lost forever a la Young-Tom-winning-the-Open-three-times-in-a-row-and-keeps-the-belt, does that mean a new putter trophy is in order?

P.S.  I've got just the putter if needed...  :P

As disgraced as I was, am, and likely ever shall be... I love that picture too.

And hmmmmmmmm... I think Ed Getka has the putter... we didn't have it to give out at the last one, did we?  Figures, NorCal won....

That would make it the Kiser Putter.  Sounds like a trophy Shivas would cherish.

Mind you I've never met Shivas and have no idea of his personality and character ... except through the posts, but how could he possibly cherish a trophy from which he'll never be able to drink some of our fine CA methode champenoise bubbly out of ...  ;D

Anthony:  wait till you attend one of these events.

In fairness I feel I should ID myself, so you and your idol Melvyn can better picture he whom you demonize.

In Mike's first picture in this thread, I am in second row from bottom, fourth from left as you look at it, blue shirt, silver hair.

TH

ps - just kidding.  That's Benham himself and my wife only wishes I looked like him.  I am on bottom row, second from right, reddish hair and Jesus sandles.  I'm also in several other pictures here.

You need to throw in another eastern trip in 2009 then.

Who knows what the future will hold?  But that sounds good to me.

Back to these pics... they illustrate the VERY good times had when a bunch of us get together.  I highly encourage participation in these outings.

I was glad I was able to get to the one day.  Such is life.

But I cop to being a big-time arse.  Ask Anthony - he knows me best.

Look on the bright side...the north won back the putter...was it because you only played in 2 matches?   ;)

In all seriousness though, I whole-heartedly agree with Huck.  A grown man shouldn't be allowed to have that much fun on a trip where it doesn't involve any women/carousing about and only a little bit of drinking.

That is a GREAT Fortson pic for sure... and yeah, the world does not need to see any more of me.

And Kalen man, that was all part of the victory plan - get rid of the low cappers who can't play to their number early.  You should thank me for taking one for the team.   ;)

With the exception of Huntley this group is far more boring in person.

LOL!  Likely true.
But my God if that is not the all-time best example of the pot calling the kettle black, I do not know what is.

I admit to not being able to live up to the hype.  Funny how The Google can make a guy seem so much clever than he may be.

This is my second shot on 18 at Stevenson Ranch at KP IV.

This is the location of the infamous chip-in by Evan Fleisher to beat Bob Huntley and win a crucial point for team So. Cal.  I'll let Huntley relive that one!   ;)
