One hole for a year

Let's take the one course for life concept further. If you could only play one hole repeatedly next year which hole would it be. You can use any of the sets of tee markers on the hole, so if variety is important think about holes offer the most from the tips, members, fronts, etc.

Would you answer change if you only had a dozen (scuff-proof) golf balls for the year?

I would give up the game....

Seriously, no matter how good a hole you select, the game would be dull. You would find yourself hitting the same basic sets of shots over and over - even with a good set of alternatives or different wind.

You don't have to limit yourself to one weather condition!!  I do think it is important to consider various winds and weather patterns throughout the year. A variety of prevailing winds throughout the year would definitely add interest.

I agree Ian...I guess maybe if that one hole were on the ocean I cold tolerate it, but man it would be tedious.

I guess it would be cheating the question to say 9 at Pac Dunes, so you could alternate between the upper and lower greens.........

I was just flinging you crap...that would suck though to only play 1 hole all year long.  :P

With your new criteria, I'd have to think 6 at Pac Dunes, so many ways to try to play that hole.

PS....#13 at LACC-North....The vines and foliage are so dense (not to mention the 14' iron fence), it's a waste to pick that hole! Can't see a damn thing!

It is lame and it can't be half these courses because most of us don't live near the hole we want to play ... except for John V. and I assume Tim Leahy would move !!!!


But I would select a par-5, I'll take the 1st at Olympic Lake ... it is near the parking lot, not far from the grill and locker room.

But most importantly, who says you have to play it from the official tee box all the time? 

With the fairway cross-bunkers (yes, Gertrude, there is more than one fairway bunker at Olympic Lake), you could make a killer short par-4 from the top of the hill ...

12 at Pacific Dunes.  With the variation in weather and wind, the different tees, the ability to self-regulate what clubs are in play at any given time, and the lack of fronting hazard/bunker (as a result of which all kinds of approaches can be tried), it's gotta rank pretty high in terms of the number of different ways it can be played.

I'd still get bored pretty quickly, however.

The short par five 9 th on the Dunes at MPCC.

500 yards from the back markers and Knudsen, Crampton, Watson (D), Price,  and Bill Rogers  were unable to birdie the hole the first time they played it.
