Changes to Muirfield (HCEG)?

Has anyone seen the new bunker work Muirfield?  I hear the bunkers are being brought in closer to some greens.

Thanks, yes I knew the 9th was being extended along with some other holes.

Although you have to ask why because the average driving distance has changed much at all since 2002 when Els won there (a jump of about 6yards between 2002 and 2003 but flat since then).  And the course was challenging enough in 2002!

Who foots the bills for the changes demanded by the R and A? 

So I guess nobody really knows about the proposed bunker changes (I now assume they haven't been done yet)?

The Linkstrust website has "2013 Muirfield" when I searched for a list of championship winners.

I will be over next door to Muirfield all next week and will see what I can find out ... though I did not pack my jacket and tie, so I've had to decline a game at HCEG.

From a design perspective, I believe the course has been unchanged for over 70 years.

They added a Nicklaus bunker to a hole on the back nine (I think #15).
