If it stays close early, I agree with your last three picks, and The Cup stays with The Euros. I think the US has to win a bunch of those early matches.

I think that Garcia Kim match is huge for momentum.

Sometimes, if the first match goes to the 17th or the 18th, several other matches could be finished and so I'm really not sure Garcia Kim is going to make a difference.  Look at Europe's #2-#7: Casey, Karlsson, Rose, Stenson, Wilson, Hansen.  And the U.S. team ranged against includes Leonard, Mickelson and Perry!

It's fun to see the Euros win, but I have to say America's going to win enough that they will still win the overall cup.  Watch out for an early American push.  My predictions:

12:03 PM: Kim (USA) vs. Garcia (EUR) EU
12:14 PM: Mahan (USA) vs. Casey (EUR) Halve
12:25 PM: Leonard (USA) vs. Karlsson (EUR) US
12:36 PM: Mickelson (USA) vs. Rose (EUR) Halve
12:47 PM: Perry (USA) vs. Stenson (EUR) US
12:58 PM: Weekley (USA) vs. WIlson (EUR) US
1:09 PM: Holmes (USA) vs. Hansen (EUR) US
1:20 PM: Furyk (USA) vs. Jimenez (EUR) EU
1:31 PM: Cink (USA) vs. McDowell (EUR) Halve
1:42 PM: Stricker (USA) vs. Poulter (EUR) EU
1:53 PM: Curtis (USA) vs. Westwood (EUR) EU
2:04 PM: Campbell vs. Harrington (EUR) EU

I think Kim can start the big surge from America because to be honest I am not too sure about Garcia at the moment.  He just does not seem himself.  I only put that first win in for the Europeans from my heart not my head...

I think Faldo has made the Sutton(?) blunder on putting his best players out last when the match is likely to be already over by the time they are the last people on the course.  Today USA 7 1/2, EU 4 1/2.  Kim's going to start the rout by stuffing Sergio.

I like Kim over Garcia, barely -- Sergio's singles record isn't all that great.

Mahan over Casey, again barely.

Leonard/Karlsson to halve -- yesterday's hottest golfer against maybe the best overall player in the Cup so far.

Mickelson over Rose, although this could be Price/Mickelson all over again -- Mickelson's game seems quite loose.

Stenson over Perry. Perry doesn't seem to be handling pressure situations in the Cup all that well.

Weekley over Wilson, although close. Wilson was pretty steady yesterday.

Hansen over Holmes; JB just too erratic.

Furyk over Jiminez.

McDowell over Cink.

Stricker/Poulter halve -- the day's most interesting match.

Westwood over Curtis.

Harrington over Campbell.

That's 15-13 U.S. Key matches are the first four, all of which I think will be pretty close, and Stricker-Poulter. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes down to the the Stricker-Poulter match.

I think Euro's actually in pretty good shape with the matchups -- U.S. rookies like Kim, Mahan and Weekley have to come through to avoid another Euro win. I picked those three to win largely on their current play in the Cup, but could easily see it swinging the other way.

Azinger has obviously front loaded his lineup while Faldo's is more back-loaded.  I see the key to the matches being the Furyk Jimenez match and the Holmes-Hanson Match.  Furyk is playing and putting great while Jimenez is well rested not playing Saturday afternoon.  Jimenez will not be a push over, but Furyk should take him late.  The Hanson and Holmes match could be ugly with both players not fully on.  If Holmes fails to get a half point and or if Furyk does not come through, it could be a long day for the Americans.  I think the U.S. would be lucky to get one point out of the last 4 matches.  The U.S needs this thing to be over when Furyk takes down the Mechanic.

Kim over Gacia 2&1                                     10-7 US
Casey over Mahan 3 & 2                             10-8 US
Karlsson over Leonard 2 up                        10-9 US
Mickelson over Rose 4 & 3                           11-9 US
Perry over Stenson 1 up                              12-9 US
Weekley over Wilson 2 & 1                          13-9 US
Holmes and Hanson Halved                         13.5-9.5 US
Furyk over Jimenez 3 & 2      USA wins Cup 14.5-9.5 US
McDowell over Cink 2 & 1                             14.5-10.5
Poulter over Stricker 2 & 1                           14.5-11.5
Westwood over Curtis 5 & 4                        14.5-12.5
Harrington over Campbell 4 & 3                   14.5-13.5

I see the two key matches as Kim-Garcia, with the potential for Garcia to once again fold in the singles without a buddy at his back, and the Stricker-Poulter match. Poulter was obviously a buzz-saw the first two days, but if Stricker can find a way to get a halve or even win that match, it should be ballgame for U.S.

The other match that could be big is Mickelson-Rose. If Rose is able to sink that U.S. battleship, it could ignite the rest of the team.

Why are we spending so much time talking about the Ryder Cup when the already clinched FedEx Cup finale is looming large next week??

Who do you think will finish second is the question everyone wants answered???   ;D

Not yet, Brian, but I'll be having my large Macallan about the time that Padraig is slouching towards the 14th green, waiting to be rebjorn....

Why are you still addicted to the bile?  I thought Norwegians were a kinder a gentler people. ;)

Europe will gain x points. The U.S. will gain 12-x points. I guarantee that much.

I'll go 6.5-5.5 Europe, but U.S. still wins the cup.

It should be a great day.  I see the European side as stronger so that it is pretty close to a 50/50 chance as to who gets the cup.

God is smiling on me today.  My daughter begged me to go to an amusement park.  I relented but found out it is CLOSED FOR REPAIRS.

I was one match and a few holes away from making the call on Curtis clinching the Cup.

Other than that I was average and no better than guessing.
