FRESNO, Calif.—A real estate developer accused of bilking investors of $6 million in connection with a failed Fresno golf club project has died.
Authorities say 46-year-old Scott Webb was found dead Wednesday in a motel in the Fresno area. They say foul play does not appear to be involved.
Earlier this week, the state revoked the real estate licenses of Webb and his business partner Tom O'Meara after they did not challenge allegations that they defrauded 10 investors in the Running Horse golf development.
The men were accused of selling the same lots to multiple buyers, among other things.
O'Meara denies any wrongdoing and said he will apply to have his license reinstated. He declined to comment on Webb's death.
