Which Golf Course Am I?
« on: September 10, 2008, 08:06:36 PM »
"The specifications were severe. An example being the requirement that the fairways were to be built in the same standard as the putting greens, with an elaborate watering system for both. The natural soil which was a loam, made the equal standard of grass possible. The design of the course was to present the best collection of two-shot holes in the country. I do not think there is a single other course anywhere which consists exclusively of holes which can be reached in two shots ... . It seems strange to a man ... to see a scorecard without a single five in the par score column."

Is there an inn of the same name on the main road with a long wood bar?

"Much thought was given to the question of golf architects and the firm chosen was Colt, Mackenzie and Alison of London, England."

Elie's the only course I know of with no par 5s and a great assortment of par 4s.  But I think Braid gets most of the design credit there, with Old Tom there earlier.

Guess my original pick of Longniddry is also wrong. Is Canoe Brook any closer?
