Thank You Ran

First off I would like to thank Ran for his acceptance of me as a new addition to GCA.  I really appreciate the opportunity to share and learn from the discussions here.

I'm 31, live in Minneapolis, but grew up in Kansas.  As a loyal Tom Watson fan, I was taught at a young age to "embrace the wind and the rain."  I found it very applicable advice to use both on and off the golf course.

Many thanks Ran - I look forward to joining in the discussions.

Welcome to the treehouse, Shane.

Have you had the chance to play any of Tom Watson's contributions to golf course architecture?  There was a little discussion about his courses very recently.

Cheers.

Thanks Tim - unfortunately I have not had a chance so far.  Have you?  Any recommendations?

I can't say I have, but I've heard pretty good things about the Cassique at Kiawah Island and his course at Reunion Resort in Florida.

Cheers.

Thanks for the easy first question -

Without a doubt - Prairie Dunes.  I think it is also one of the best courses I have ever seen from 60 yards in which is another topic going on right now.

It is hard to imagine how hard a 6500 yard course really can be until you play Prairie Dunes (have not played Merion).

From a pure walking standpoint, most enjoyable walking course I have played....including Ireland/Scotland.

You will have a blast there soon.

Lines on golf balls - I assume you mean for putting?  I am not a fan.

Welcome Shane.  Since you like walking courses I invite you to join a small group of us at Lawsonia October 11-12.   I think Lawsonia is equidistance from Chicago where a bunch of us who are going live and Minneapolis.  See other thread.

Dan - Thank you for the invite!  I would love to join in, however, I think I might have family in from out of town that weekend.  If plans change, then I will let you know.....have not played Lawonsia yet and would love to.  I went over and play Erin Hills last year and should have played Lawsonia when I was out there.

How many are coming over from MPLS

I've posted elsewhere that I didn't like his course at Reunion, but that he might have been constrained by condos/houses.  (The condo buildings are huge and very intrusive on several of the holes, especially the ones that left my scratching my head.)
