hey guys, are we talking false fronts here????

I think they are one of the greatest defenses ever in that they impact the good player much more than your average Joe.  Willie Park knew how to build them, as those Scots were very adept at the bump and run.


I personally despise collection areas a for myriad of reasons, if thats what we're considering!

Not just false fronts, but a ridge feature running through the front of the green, in combination with a sloping front, that protects front pin locations, and penalizes mis-hit or short shots.

Has anybody played #6 @ the Sand Barrens West course?  It's a par 3 of just over 200 yards where the front of the green is like so.  The middle has a ridge and then slopes away to the back from there.  It really is one of my favorite greens anywhere, and I think some of the greens they have there, if examined carefully, are really marvelous.  I should mention that Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designed the golf course, a couple names which don't come up much in this DG.
