Number of Seaside Holes
« on: September 08, 2008, 05:08:41 PM »
Back when The Ocean Course was built, Pete Dye was quoted saying that "The Ocean Course has more seaside holes than any course in the Northern Hemisphere."  Our advertising agency has grasped onto that line and is putting it in everything.  It got me thinking...what course in the Southern Hemisphere has more than 10 seaside holes?  ???

This can't even be said about the Northern Hemisphere any more.

I count 13 at Weihai in China.

What defines a "seaside" hole?

Is it one that is directly adjacent to the ocean, or is it one from which the ocean can be seen?

How close to the ocean must a hole be to justify the claim that it is a "seaside" hole?

Michael makes the point I was aboout to make.

I think Pete Dye's Teeth of the Dog has the most where the ocean comes into play.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta
