Bandon rounds
« on: September 11, 2008, 02:18:52 PM »
Curious...for those who have golfed at the Bandon resort...on an "average" trip to Bandon, how many holes would you golf there each day, and how many golf days would you spend there?

Thanks,
JJ

JJ, depends on the time of year.  If you are going in the fall, you will have to play early and then play the afternoon round before 2 for them to guarantee you will make 36 holes.  So it is up to you if that is something your group desires.  Summertime is easy due to the very long days.

3 days at the minimum... and generally 45/54 holes (in July/ August) If you play the last round at Bandon Dunes, you have the option of stopping after 9 or 13 or playing the full 18. If you tee off  the third round say after 5ish, the front 9 is virtually empty... and you can play real quick.  Winter may be a different ball game....

I went in May and played 36 a day. The wind really beats you up and some of the walks through the sand really get to you. I think if your trying to enjoy your rounds then 36 a day max. If you are just trying to play as many as you can just to do so then play more.

There is no reason to play more than 36 at the Bandon Resort when you can go to Bandon Crossings and grab a cart for that third round.  I also had a great time playing the free short course at the driving range with a couple of clubs.  But then again, I only go in the winter.

JK... I alsmot forgot about bandon crossings. We played there on our last day as out 54th hole and it was awsome. I was exhausted and could hardly swing a club but I remember the course being awsome. On the way home stop at the red rose and grab a bite to eat in downtown bandon.

I was there in June for 2 days and played 36/36.  Because we had early morning times, the days are long, and we wanted to finish our 2nd rounds in the late afternoon, we had a few hours in between rounds to have lunch, drink a few beers, and rest a little.  We weren't sure it was the right call going into it, but it worked out great.  We also had sublime weather.

You play as much as your weary bones and pocketbook can allow!

Bandon Crossings should not be missed, but not in lieu of one of the three resort courses.

The option of taking a cart becomes mighty appealing after three days of pounding the railroad ties and having wind blowing in your ear all day long.
