Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers(Muirfield)
I can't believe it took 23 prior posts not to recall this set of par 3's this time of year!!
(They're all about the same yardage 180-210 yards)

We sometimes play a game called Wolf.  Some of you may know the game but regardless, the point is that whoever is the Wolf on each hole gets to select the tee box the group will play from.  It's a blast!  By the way, not once did any of us feel we were compromising our sexuality playing from the shorter tees  ;)

Mark:
Charles River CC - Newton Centre, Ma. - #4 - 152 yds
                                                       #9 - 176 yds
                                                       #11- 232 yds
                                                       #14- 189 yds
                                                       #17- 186 yds
All are from the middle or blue tees which the members play.  Gold tees are longer.  Do not have any idea what white or reds would be.
Aronimink GC - Newtown Square, Pa. - #5 - 151 yds
                                                     #8 - 203 yds
                                                     #14- 185 yds
                                                     #17- 176 yds
These are from the White tees.  Don't know the reds and the Blues are much longer
Fairways and Greens

The shortest of the five par 3's from the regular tees at Lakeside Memorial here in fabulous Stillwater, OK is 152 yards.

From the "up tees" its only 97 yards though.

The course starts the back nine with a par 3 and ends with a par 3,  (188/200 downhill, 202/232 uphill).

Mark Fine,

Shifting the tee boxes around and significantly altering the yardages conflicts with establishing handicaps from golf course's "rated" yardages.  ( blue, white, red, etc.,etc..)

A golf course's overall yardage must remain consistently balanced to assist in the effort to determine handicaps.

Moving a tee marker from 200 to 140 is okay, but overall the course should play to approximately the same yardage.
Slope is fueled by yardage.

Pat,
But we don't care about keeping score right  ;)  If you don't keep score, you can't have a handicap and shouldn't worry about one.

Let me let you in on a little secret, some of the best holes at Bandon Dunes are made from tee boxes hidden in the waist hige fescue that few people know about!  They exist on par threes, fours and fives! #17 for example is a better par three than it is a par four  ;)  Wouldn't know that from the scorecard would you?

Mark Fine,

You could say that about # 2 at TCC too.

Is that good or bad architecture for those holes ?
