The Prevailing Mindset We're Facing
« on: August 13, 2008, 02:24:59 PM »
I stole this online review from another site as indication of what we dogged proponents of raw, natural, unfettered golf as fun adventure face in trying to move our ideals into reality.

5 useless Cirba points will be given out to anyone who can guess the course.   ;D

Likes:
1. Course in nice shape. Front nine wide open, very windy. Back nine mostly in woods, lots of elevation changes. Tons of bunkers on both 9's; back 9 harder.
2. Electric carts have ball/club washers
3. Good value in resort area. $44 for 18 w/cart.

Dislikes:
1. Small, over-undulated greens very difficult to hit and putt. They roll true, but I defy anyone to make a putt longer than 10'. Also, countless unrepaired ball marks on all greens.
2. Cart paths are a mix of gravel/dirt (front 9 more so than back), brick pavers, and ashphalt. Course should finish all unpaved path with ashphalt. Back 9 very steep - thought the cart wasn't going to make it.
CAUTIONARY NOTE: Do not drive cart in rough - your kidneys will pay the price. For a course 18 yrs old, I was disappointed in how bumpy the rough was.
3. Lots of blind shots on back 9.

LOL, that's priceless. I think the author needs to buy a dictionary.

Mike, welcome to the real world of golf.  We are the dream world.

Not that that's a bad thing.  ;D

Jim,

WOW!   I'm amazed.   :o

I can't believe you picked up the course from those clues!  ;D

Nice going...your 5 useless Cirba points will be mailed to you as soon as I hire a secretary.   ;)

Actually, I hope to play High Pointe for the first time this coming week.

I'll watch for those bumpy roughs.  ;D

Mike,
No Carnak here, I figured if you were going to Mi. you'd have to be playing a TD course and the only one I remembered reading about was HP.  ;D

I'll have my secretary send your secretary my address.

Just keep it in the middle and save your butt.

Jim,

Darnnit...forgot about that nine-holer clue I left yesterday...drats!

Great...my people will contact your people then?   ;)

What's the middle?  If I ever found that I wouldn't be able to get all this exercise walking sideways to my ball.   ;) ;D

I wonder if High Pointe's roughs are bumpy under foot?   ???

Mike,
The capper for my figurin' was the 'over-undulated greens'. Who else could that have been, in MI no less?

Aim left, you'll eventually find the middle.  ;D
