So, Adam Clayman is visiting with me in the middle of his big summer golf voyage through the midwest on his way to Michigan rater's conference. Of course we have to play the obligatory round at Lawsonia. We go there for an afternoon round, unfortunately not with Brad Swanson who we were hoping could make it. So, we are a twosome. We find that we will be joined in the round by a single, whose travelling golf companion was supposed to be his Dad, who had a bit of a health problem and couldn't make it at the last minute. The single approached us and we introduce ourselves, Adam Clayman from Nebraska, and Dick Daley from Green Bay. The gent says... 'are you the Dick Daley on Golf Club Atlas?' (I'm glad he didn't say the "goofy" Dick Daley or full of **it DD.) I about drop my jaw, figuring it is another McConkey set up. Instead, it turns out to be GCA.com contributor, Cory Lewis from Dupont CC who did the 'my home course' there. What are the odds on coincidentally bumping into a fellow GCA poster you haven't met or actually exchanged IMs or whatever with?
Well, it was a perfect golf day, with the exception of a brief shower as we played holes 2 and 3. Then it cleared up and turned out great. Cory is a pro at Dupont and obviously a fine player (who plays darn fast!!) I'm on my last legs wondering if this is going to be my last round of the year as my back in getting damn bad. But oddly enough, I played OK, and a good time was had by all GCAers... (I confess, we took a cart, and I'm sorry about that right there...)
